Hi, little one. This morning Grow wants to get ready all alone, but oh dear. Grow pulls a warm woolly sock right over one ear and beams, 'How do I look? Ooh, and if I listen, I can hear the sea in here!' You burst out laughing.
'Socks go on feet, silly!' you giggle, and you show Grow how. Grow tries again and pops the sock on the OTHER ear. You laugh so hard you almost tip over. Then you gently guide it onto a wiggly foot.
Next, Grow grabs a hairbrush and starts scrubbing away at Grow's teeth with it. 'Minty!' Grow says proudly. 'No, no,' you laugh, 'that one is for hair. This little one is for teeth.' You hand over the toothbrush and show the round, round brushing.
Then Grow tries to eat cereal with a fork, and the milk splashes everywhere. Splat! You fetch a spoon and scoop up a big bite to show how. Grow watches you closely, learning from the expert. That expert is you.
Finally, when everything is done at last, Grow gives you a huge hug. 'Everyone gets things wrong sometimes, and a patient friend makes learning fun.' You feel proud and warm and very, very capable.
For the rest of the day, whenever Grow is unsure, Grow just looks at you and copies. Then Grow asks, 'So, little one... did we grow a little today?' You did. 'Here is your little grow for tomorrow,' says Grow. 'Be the teacher: show someone one thing you already know how to do.' See you tomorrow, little one.
