Growy and the Whispering Night

Hi, little one. Night has come, soft and blue, and you and Growy are snuggled by the open window. Everything looks sleepy. Then, very quietly, the world begins to whisper goodnight, just for you.

First the clouds drift by, slow and silver. 'Goodniiight,' they hum in low, puffy voices, telling little stories of all the places they floated over today: a mountain, a sea, a garden just like yours.

Then the tall tree by the window sways its leaves. 'Shhh, shhh,' it whispers, like a giant, gentle friend rocking you. Each leaf is a tiny hand, waving you softly toward sleep.

You look up and ask the moon, 'Are you sleepy too?' The moon glows warm and answers in a calm, silvery voice, 'I will stay awake and watch over you all night. Close your eyes.' And gently, it lays a soft blanket of silver light right across your bed.

Your blinks grow slow and heavy. Growy whispers, 'When you listen closely, the whole quiet world is wishing you goodnight.' The clouds, the tree, and the moon all hush together, soft as a blanket.

Safe and snug, you settle down while the gentle night holds you. 'So, little one...' Growy whispers, 'did we grow a little today?' You nod, almost asleep. 'Then here is your little grow for tomorrow,' Growy hums. 'Whisper goodnight to three things you can see from your bed.' Everything you love is here, and everything is calm. Goodnight, little one.

💡Read together

  • What did the clouds, the tree, and the moon each say?
  • If the night could whisper to you, what would you want it to say?
  • What is your favorite sound at bedtime?

👪For you

A calm, imaginative story is a lovely final step in a bedtime routine, because it slows the body and turns the day's busy thoughts toward stillness. Fantasy where nature gently watches over the child taps into a deep need for security, which is exactly the feeling that helps sleep come. Keep your voice low and slow as you near the end, let the pauses grow longer, and there is no need to reach a big finish, the gentle fading is the point.

🎨Try this

🌙 Play the goodnight whisper. At bedtime, take turns whispering goodnight to a few things your child can see or imagine (the moon, their toys, the trees outside). Slowing down to say goodnight to the world is a soothing signal to the body that the day is truly over.
