little one is crying. I am holding you. I am here.

We walk slowly. One step. Then another.

Growy is close by. He waits too.

The crying may be quieter. Maybe not. I am still here.

Crying is how a baby asks for help, but it cannot always be read, so there will be evenings when you try everything and nothing works. That does not mean you failed. Sometimes the only thing available is staying close and letting it pass, and that is something, even though it does not feel like it at the time. If you feel you are at the end of your strength, put your baby down on their back somewhere safe, step out of the room for a minute, and come back when your breathing has slowed. That is not abandoning them, it is protecting you both, because a baby must never be shaken. If the crying sounds different from usual, if your baby refuses to feed, has a temperature, or anything worries you, call your doctor. Asking is never an overreaction.
🤍 Next time it will not stop, say one sentence out loud to yourself rather than to the baby: this passes, and I am here. Short, and for you.
